Make a Lasting Impact...
Join Connecticut Children's Legacy Society
A compassion for children: That's what inspired Virginia Thrall Smith to create a home for Connecticut children with disabilities in the late 19th Century. The "Home for Incurables," as it was called, opened in a Newington farmhouse on June 15, 1898. The tiny "seed" that Smith planted on a Connecticut hillside grew from a safe haven for disabled children to a medical center known as Newington Children's Hospital. Today, Connecticut Children's Medical Center is a lasting reminder of Smith's legacy as an advocate for children in need.
Just as Smith's legacy lives on today through Connecticut Children's — yours can too! Through a planned gift, you can become a member of the Legacy Society and plant a seed of your own that will continue to grow and touch the lives of children for years to come.
The Power of Planned Gifts
Planned gifts help support important endowment and capital projects and enable Connecticut Children's to develop new programs and services in children's healthcare. Bequests, charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder or lead trusts are among the many planned giving opportunities available. By including Connecticut Children's in your estate or financial plans, you may be able to increase your current income as well as provide future support for areas of the Medical Center that are important to you. We invite you to consider the ways you can make a lasting impact today.
Legacy Society Membership
Our Legacy Society members are important to us. We recognize their generosity on special plaques in the Medical Center — or not, if they prefer anonymity — and offer periodic estate planning publications and seminars, an annual luncheon, tours and invitations to special events. Membership in the Legacy Society is an effective way to keep in touch with Connecticut Children's and its many programs.
